Understanding Men’s Recovery and Experiences After Prostatectomy
You are invited to join our monthly meeting on Sunday, June 14, 2026, 3PM – 5PM on Zoom.
We are pleased to welcome Christy Chan, who will present her research on the often-overlooked experiences of men following prostate cancer surgery (prostatectomy). Drawing on personal stories, this session will explore key challenges related to mental health, intimate partner relationships, peer support, and navigating healthcare after treatment. Christy will also share insights from ongoing research on gender-responsive interventions designed to better support men and their partners in the post-treatment journey. Following the presentation, there will be an opportunity for questions and discussion.
After the feature presentation, please stay to hear about The Walnut Foundation’s business and community events, as well as a new segment, Member’s Corner, where attendees can share and ask questions about topics beyond prostate cancer.

Study synopsis:
Research That Improves Men's Lives
The study objective is to advance the gendered dimensions of men’s post- prostatectomy experiences using narrative methodologies by integrating men’s narratives and storytelling methods to identify and describe post-prostatectomy experiences related to mental health, intimate partner relationships, peer support, and using healthcare services. These insights have the potential to contribute to the development of targeted, gender-responsive interventions to support the emotional and relational well-being of men and their intimate partners post-prostatectomy.
