Empowering Black Men’s Health:
Prostate Cancer Awareness,
Support, and Action

Were you recently diagnosed with prostate cancer?
We’re here for you.

Who We Are

We are a Black men’s health and prostate cancer support group striving to enhance the health and well-being of men and their families by providing a safe, supportive forum for discussion.

Through our community-driven approach, we empower Black men to take charge of their prostate health, make informed decisions, and connect with others on similar journeys. We provide a safe space for open discussions, ensuring that men and their families have access to trusted resources, health screenings, and expert guidance.

Community Connections

We believe in the power of open dialogue to promote awareness, education, and support for Black men’s health. We create trusted spaces where men can talk about prostate cancer, share experiences, and support each other toward better well-being.

Supporting Future Black Medical Professionals

We believe in investing in supporting the education of future Black doctors. That’s why we have established an endowment to provide scholarships to Black medical students attending the University of Toronto’s Temerty Faculty of Medicine. We plan to add endowments at select medical schools in our target communities.

Fighting for Health Equity

Through partnerships with community health centers, researchers, and the government, we enhance Black men’s health by expanding prostate cancer testing access and advancing knowledge mobilization.

Our Events

At The Walnut Foundation, we are dedicated to advancing men’s health and wellness within the Black community, with a focus on prostate health, prostate cancer awareness and prevention. Held every February, our Black History Month Symposium explores critical health issues impacting the Black community, including diabetes, hypertension, Alzheimer’s, and prostate cancer. Through expert panels and community discussion, we promote awareness, education, and collective healing.

Why We Do It

Founded in 2007 by Dr. Isaac, The Walnut Foundation was born from a personal journey through prostate cancer. After his diagnosis and treatment, Dr. Isaac saw the urgent need to raise awareness and improve education about prostate health — particularly within the Black community, where risks are disproportionately higher.
