Hello Walnut Foundation Members, Family and Friends – we hope this finds you all safe and healthy!
With the Festive Holiday Season under way, The Walnut Foundation wishes to express thanks to all our donors, members, partners, volunteers and supporters this past year who have made it possible for us to continue to provide services to the community.
While Covid-19 has seriously disrupted lives, it presented a real opportunity for The Walnut Foundation to bring many people closer together to find meaningful ways to continue to do what we do best, educate and support. With our knowledge of leading technologies, the Walnut Foundation’s Board of Directors has capitalized on the reality of our current pandemic and found ways to continue to do what we do in educating men to take responsibility for their health and well-being, especially in the area of Prostate Cancer. If you would like to learn more about how The Walnut Foundation has flourished in 2020, our ‘Year in Review’ follows.
Many regularly participate in and benefit from activities such as our monthly awareness sessions, our annual conference, our symposium, our community presentations and our walkathons. The Walnut Foundation has helped family and friends, while some simply appreciate the work we do. If you have not yet donated to The Walnut Foundation in 2020, we ask you to consider making The Walnut Foundation part of your 2020 year-end giving plan. Donations can be made online by selecting the DONATE button below. Or by mailing us a cheque to P.O. Box 74053, King’s Point Plaza PO, Brampton, ON, L6V 4J7. Income tax receipts will be issued for all donations.
The Walnut Foundation Family wish you a joyous holiday season, and more importantly a healthy 2021 that returns us to a semblance of normalcy.

The Walnut Foundation's 2020 Year in Review
2020 has been a challenging year for most but for The Walnut Foundation, Covid-19 meant it was an opportunity to move forward. We cancelled all in person meetings after our March meeting but continued to meet online.
January 2020. Dr. Dana Powell from the Hospital for Sick Children presented on Understanding Sickle Cell Disease
February 2020. February was our annual free Symposium where we addressed the issue of Alzheimer’s. Dementia and Caregiving. We are grateful to the Alzheimer’s Society of Peel for their presentations.
March 2020. We had an open discussion on ways to improve our effectiveness in health education and advocacy
April 2020. April was the start of our virtual meetings where we invited family Physician DR. V. Jivan a family physician and Janace King-Watson a mental health professional to discuss COVID-19 and to answer concerns from the audience.
May 2020. We invited Dr. Andrew Matthew from UHN to discuss how Princess Margaret was continuing to provide cancer support during the pandemic. We also had Dr. Sylvanus Thompson from Toronto Public Health Toronto discuss COVID-19 and public issues.
June 2020. June would have been our annual fundraising walkathon. However due to COVID-19, we decided to do a virtual walkathon by inviting people to walk in their homes or neighborhood. Our efforts raised 50% of what we would normally raise annually.
September 2020. We invited Dr. Jivan again to provide an update on COVID-19 and provide tips on staying safe in the upcoming winter season.
October 2020. A significant month for the Foundation. We hosted our annual membership meeting on Zoom followed a few weeks later by our Annual Conference on Prostate Health which attracted more than two hundred registrants. This was our signature event where six of the top medical professionals raised our awareness on Prostate Cancer.
November 2020. Dr. Patrick St Louis PhD presented on the process of Diagnostic Lab testing from Sampling to Reporting to your doctor’s review.
December 2020. Dr. Rachel Bell DMD presented on Oral Health, diseases and treatments. This was followed by our virtual Christmas social.
Here's to continued expansion in success in 2021 - thank you all!
